Seriously, Malaysia has managed to avoid joining most Islamic-majority countries on the shitheap of history, and that's largely due to the Common Law system inherited from Britain, and a large, productive non-Muslim minority.
This is way to eliminate both those aspects in one fell swoop. Awesome.
Other former British colonies that have gone down this track include Sudan, Pakistan and Nigeria. Excellent precedent for a society, if you ask me.
