Doesn't UNderstand

This year is the 60th anniversary of the founding of Israel. For some reason, this makes a lot of people unhappy.

I guess they might be against states founded for people of a particular religious persuasion...well, that might be credible if they protested against Pakistan, a country founded at the same time, except for people of a different religion.

I've heard some gnashing of the teeth at the displacement of Palestinians. Well, if the Arab countries hadn't invaded, they probably would still have had the land that had been allocated to them and, indeed, would have probably been allowed to settle in Israel. You know, a similar amount of Germans were pushed out of their ancestral homes in the 1940s, and have since got over it. Luckily for them, however, Europe was full of liberal, democratic and competently run countries who had given up on race-baiting and so were able to reaccomodate their wandering cousins.

You might think the Arab nations, with their abundance of the most valuable resource in the world, could spare a few dimes to have Palestinian "refugees" resettled after the many decades they've left them rotting in camps.

But then...without the "Palestinian cause" to club Israel with, the Arab nations would have to return to more traditional ways of beating up Jews.

So, in the end, we're left with a whole lot of bullshit and not a lot of moral seriousness.

One claim of the moonbat protester at Parliament House stuck out though...

"What about the UN resolution?"

What indeed? Which one, precisely?

United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine or United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181...which called for the establishment of an Jewish and an Arab state....which the Arabs rejected, not wanting those uppity Jews to have a country?

Perhaps it is the absolutely disgusting Resolution 3379 where "Zionism is racism" was strongarmed through the UN by a motley collection of the dictatorial, easily bribed, and idiotic.

Luckily it was repealed in resolution 4686, where the only 25 voting against the repeal were Islamic countries (who also refused to sign human rights documents guaranteeing personal freedom) and a few old communist countries like Cuba and Vietnam.

In the end, I guess we'll never know the obsession these people have with Israel's supposed "crimes", when surrounding said countries is a whole host of regime who engage in much more serious crimes on a daily basis.

On a final note...how many Islamic countries will this movie play in?
