It seems that Keisha Castle Hughes, mostly known as the Maori girl in Whale Rider (but to nerds like me as Queen Apailana), is up the duff at the tender age of sixteen.
It is hoped the news Whale Rider star Keisha Castle-Hughes is pregnant will not hurt her future as an actress. The 16-year-old is expecting her first child in autumn.
The father is her New Zealand boyfriend of three years, 19-year-old Bradley Hull.
Well...yes.
Wikipedia, which has never set me wrong, says this:
Castle-Hughes and her boyfriend, Bradley Hull, 19, are expecting a child in spring 2007; the couple have dated since 2003.
Um...2003...wasn't she thirteen then?
I thought that kinda thing was illegal....
You're just jealous!
Sure am! I wish I had my own Oscar-nominated jail bait.
Posted by Quentin George at October 8, 2006 10:16 PMi was tempted to update the wookipedia, to include a paragraph something of the nature of "where she ruled as the queen of naboo for a couple of years, before showing up to work one day, chock full of child and unable to do her queenly duties any longer... her newly top-heavy centre of gravity also meant she consequently found it more difficult to ride whales as the Chosen One. As she kept falling off our tasty cousins-of-the-sea, she was promptly reassigned a role as a kiwi housewife, where she could probably forward to the odd alcohol-fueled beating and a life of neglect and not nearly enough whale riding..."
but i couldnt bring myself to put any more references to kiwis in the star wars universe than have already snuck in. So my bursting onto the scene as a Pulitzer prize-winning level author has been delayed, yet again....

Posted by: Aidan at October 10, 2006 08:14 AMPsst...Pulitzer is awarded for journalism, not fiction.
Posted by: Aidan at October 10, 2006 08:15 AMBut isn't fiction just a reflection of reality? Or something?
This young fertile lass is straping role-model for all those young girls. Because, you know, what NZ and Australia really lack are teenage mums.
Posted by: Engels at October 10, 2006 02:17 PMDating a 13 year old is not illegal as long as he only schtupped her after they'd been going out for three years..
Hmmmmm......
Posted by: Daniel Lewis at October 11, 2006 01:13 PMSchtupping Keisha would certainly be tempting, I'd assume.
Posted by: Aidan at October 12, 2006 10:53 AMKeisha is a good actress. Make sure you see her upcoming movie, Hey, Hey its Esther Blueburger, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hey,_Hey,_It's_Esther_Blueburger
