Fat and Drunk. What a combination.
More Australian adults are overweight or obese and they're drinking more alcohol, a national health survey has revealed.
The latest survey from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) found 62 per cent of men and 45 per cent of women are now considered overweight or obese – a rise of about 10 per cent over the past decade.
The number of Australians drinking alcohol at risky levels also has risen, up two per cent since 2001.
The survey found middle-aged Australians were the worst culprits when it came to drinking dangerous amounts of alcohol, with 18 per cent of men and 13 per cent of women aged 55 to 64 drinking at risky levels.
Gee...they say that last bit like it's a bad thing.
Shucks.
