Yet....the Dalek Moves!

While I'm waiting for the new Dr Who to return, I decided to go back and watch some of the old series.
Since I'm the child of the 80s, the show was in its final seasons then, and hence the doctor I remember best (apart from Tom Baker, of course, but he was before my time, really) is Sylvester McCoy, so, might as well start with his "reign".
Actually, tell a lie, I also remember Colin Baker - but only because of the violence of his tenure. (I think his Doctor once dissolved a few goons in a pool of acid).
Anyway, to start my trip down nostalgia lane, I popped in the DVD of Remembrance of the Daleks.
A few points:
- The Daleks must have been down at the pub prior to this episode, since they're wobbling like nobody's business.
- The Special Weapons Dalek is the best EVA!!
- I can remember thinking that Ace's ensemble was pretty spiffy. Mind you, it was the eighties, so I guess I should have expected when I viewed it again that she was wearing some bizarre bomber jacket/skirt/stockings combo.
- I don't know why everyone bitches about McCoy's portrayal of the Doctor. Hell, before the show the guy was best known for putting ferrets down his trousers, so you can't expect anything too amazing.
- McCoy and Aldred's commentary is absolutely hilarious. You might think they were out there doing their damn best to express the deep emotions inherent in the serial, but in reality, they were just trying not to laugh at the cardboard sets. Ha ha!
Still, good viewing. Now, what's next...
(I wish they had the one with the clowns on DVD....)
